On Monday,\u00a0March 25, 2013, Memorial<\/abbr> and Grace<\/a> United Methodist churches sent\u00a0a team of \u00a014 people, teenagers to senior citizens, to Haiti ,\u00a0as part of the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission<\/a>. Their project was to help the Thomas school<\/a> become self-sufficient. Their work includes basic construction, repairs, gardening, painting, water\u00a0purification, running errands,\u00a0and teaching basic computer courses. They are completing the major portion of the repair and rebuild of the Thomas school. The team returned safely on April 2nd and are sharing what they have learned and\u00a0experienced\u00a0from the trip. (See their Haiti Blog<\/a>. See YouTube videos<\/a> from Haiti)<\/p>\n

Money sent direct to Haiti won’t get to where it’s needed. Even if they had money, they could not order needed items because the delivery system there is poor. \u00a0So our mission team TOOK the\u00a0needed items<\/a> to Haiti in addition to working on the projects there.<\/p>\n

Memorial<\/abbr> will continue to support the Thomas School and so\u00a0donations<\/a> <\/strong>are still accepted to Memorial<\/abbr> for the school. \u00a0 Memorial<\/abbr> will be continuing to sponsor mission trips to lend aid to needed areas of the U.S. and world. \u00a0If you would like to participate in missions in <\/span>any way<\/a>, <\/span>contact<\/a> the office.<\/span><\/p>\n
