\nIf you have a heart burst for a mission or ministry that is not listed, talk to the pastor.<\/h2>\n

These ministries are also for you to receive as you may need.<\/h2>\n

Getting involved in missions and ministri3s not only helps the mission or ministry, but provides you with opportunities to learn and grow by working with other Christians.<\/p>\n\n

Worship Ministries<\/h1>\n

It takes a lot of people to create and conduct meaningful worship services every Sunday. You can find many rewarding ministries within worship to be of service to God and the people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Child Care<\/span><\/p>\n

Child care is available during worship services and Sunday School hour. Care for infants through age 2 is available in the Quiet Room at the north side of the Sanctuary<\/abbr><\/abbr>. Care for children ages 2 through 5 is available in the Fellowship Hall<\/abbr> Nursery Room.<\/span><\/p>\n

Music Ministries<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Worship by playing and singing traditional and modern Christian music. Anyone who plays the\u00a0 Guitar, bass, or Drums are welcome. Vocalists also are welcome. Rehearsals are Fridays at 6 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Worship Planning Ministry<\/span><\/p>\n

Details of all worship services are planned well in advance. The service planning teams meet once a month. We welcome your input to the worship planning team ether by message or your attendance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other Worship Support Ministries<\/span><\/p>\n

Much other support is needed for worship services. Ushers, Sound Technicians, PowerPoint designers, Video projection operators, Camera operators, Greeters, Communion Stewards, Scripture Readers, and Worship Leaders are regularly needed for worship.<\/span><\/p>\n

These are all are ministries to the church. Contact Pastor or the church office<\/abbr><\/abbr> if you can minister in any of these ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hanging Out with Jesus<\/abbr><\/h2>\n

We have a building dedicated for our youth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congregational Care<\/h1>\n

We care about your physical and mental health. From time to time, Memorial<\/abbr> conducts Yoga classes, painting classes, quilting groups. Other similar classes and groups may pop up from time to time. If you have a special talent or interest and would like to form or lead a class or group or just attend, contact the office.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer\u00a0Chain<\/h2>\n

The prayer chain offers prayers for anyone in need. Those needs are promptly communicated via phone and emailed to the group members who pray for those in need. The more members of this group, the more powerful is the effect. Contact the church office<\/abbr><\/abbr> if you would like to participate. <\/span>Individuals’ names will be cycled through the prayer concern list but will remain on the prayer chain for continued prayers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meeting first Saturday of the month at 11 am in the Lose Library<\/abbr>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pastor’s Prayer List<\/h2>\n

This is a list of church friends especially in need of our prayers and concerns, usually for an extended time. Call or email<\/a> the Pastor or the church office<\/abbr><\/abbr> if you know of anyone in need.<\/span><\/p>\n

Special Friends<\/h2>\n

This is our own program for offering caring through visiting, telephoning and cards to members and friends in particular need. We also deliver gifts and cards made by our Sunday School children. We need people to join us. The Special Friends Team meets on the second Thursday at 2:00 in the Lose Library<\/abbr>.<\/span><\/p>\n

WWD<\/abbr> Grief Group<\/span><\/h2>\n

Widows Widowers, Divorcees group for mutual support in times of loss of loved ones. \u00a0Meeting in the Fellowship Hall<\/abbr> on Saturday’s at 10:00 am.<\/span><\/p>\n

Donate your old clothing, kitchen ware, household items, etc to the Mission Thrift<\/abbr> Store. \u00a0This helps people with low income to purchase needed items cheaply and the income is sent to the United Methodist church for missions. (Apportionment<\/abbr>)<\/span><\/p>\n

Service to the Church<\/span><\/h2>\n

Stewardship does not have to involve money. \u00a0Your time and talents can be a great service to the church. \u00a0Many ministries and programs are available at Memorial<\/abbr> that will result in your spiritual growth. Donations “in kind”<\/span><\/h2>\n

The church is like a big household. Desks, computers, monitors, TVs, DVD players, lamps, etc are often needed. \u00a0Think of the church before throwing anything of value out.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

WORLD and LOCAL MISSIONS<\/span><\/h1>\n

Haiti Mission<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Memorial<\/abbr> sent a team of Members to Haiti in the spring of 2013 under UMCOR<\/abbr> (United Methodist Committee on Relief). \u00a0See more.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Stephen Ministry:<\/span><\/h2>\n

Stephen Ministry is a specialized caring ministry in which lay people are given extensive training to walk along side people who are going through exceptionally challenging times in their lives. This ministry is different from the vital caring ministry provided through our \u201cSpecial Friends\u201d ministry.<\/p>\n

Stephen Ministers receive approximately 50 hours of training to empower them to provide appropriate Christian care to others. They will become a companion on a journey toward spiritual healing. The ministry is a powerful experience for both those receiving and giving care. Through funding provided by the Conference United Methodist Women\u2019s Beulah Fund, people have been trained as Stephen Leaders.<\/p>\n

Stop Hunger Now!<\/span><\/h2>\n

On May 18, 2013, we packed 10,200 meals for the hungry<\/a>. This was such a success and was so easy, we knew we can do more. \u00a0On October 20th, 2013, at Memorial<\/abbr>, we packed 121,422 meals in a huge <\/span>Stop Hunger Now meal packing event\u00a0as part of Memorial<\/abbr>’s 120th anniversary.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Note the Stop Hunger Now programs is called Rise Against Hunger<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This was a community wide event. Teams from people’s work, organizations, Boy Scouts participated.<\/p>\n

Divine guidance must have been involved with this event because we had no idea that our meals would be desperately needed a couple of weeks later in the Philippines after the devastating typhoon.\u00a0Click here to read a letter to Memorial<\/abbr> from Stop Hunger Now.<\/a>

Friends of Stop Hunger Now,<\/span><\/p>\n

We are delighted to announce that the\u00a0meals\u00a0from your respective\u00a0meal\u00a0packaging events\u00a0have\u00a0been\u00a0shipped\u00a0in a container totaling 285,120\u00a0meals\u00a0from our San Leandro, California warehouse.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Convoy of Hope, a 501(c)3 faith-based nonprofit, has served more than 55 million people throughout the world through international children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, disaster response and partner resourcing. \u00a0Through the cooperation of their local partners, Convoy of Hope is able to feed nearly forty-five thousand children a week in the Philippines and five thousand children every day. Alongside these feeding programs, Convoy of Hope also distributes water filters and conducts lessons in proper hygiene including the washing of hands and feet and keeping living environments safe and clean.\u00a0\u00a0In response to the recent tragedy in the Philippines, Convoy of Hope is responding with Stop Hunger Now meals and other aid to provide relief to those affected.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
